The next session of Forward will begin the week of September 11, 2016. On September 2, I’ll post the reading plan for you to review and refer back to. I’m excited to read this book with you.
In case you missed it, we’ll be reading, “Healing the Heart of Democracy: the Courage to Create a Politics Worthy of the Human Spirit.” The book is by Parker J. Palmer, founder of the Center for Courage and Renewal.
We wanted to be sure everyone who wants to participate in this session of Forward, can. Members of our online community have generously contributed to make it possible for us to gift books to people who might not be able to swing the cost of a book right now. If, for any reason, you’d like us to send you a free copy of the book—no questions asked—click the button below to fill out the request form with your name and address. We’ll order a book and have it shipped to you. As long as we have money, we’ll send books.
Here’s a quick question for you: Do you ever have the desire to “unfriend” people on social media, or in real life? A couple of years ago, I wrote an article for the website, (in)courage. Today, that piece is being re-published. It’s called, How “Unfriending” Shrinks My World. Here’s a preview:
A few years ago, things got pretty heated in the world of social media. It wasn’t the first time. Or the last. I’d be lying if I said some of what I saw didn’t ruffle my feathers and make me want to fire off a snarky response or a back-handed missive that highlighted the virtues of the other point of view. Sometimes the “devil’s advocate” in me wanted to jump into the fray, simply for the benefit of having stirred the pot.
By some miracle, however, I held my peace.
If you’ve been tempted to unfriend someone lately, I hope you’ll join me at (In)courage today, to read the rest.
