On Tuesday night, I went with my ICU buddies to see Lee Daniels’ The Butler at the movie theater in my town. After the movie was over, we all walked across to Panera, pulled the tables and chairs together and debriefed. It was a good conversation, but I needed to talk more about it. So, I went home, woke up “H” from a deep sleep, and continued processing to the back of his sleeping head. Poor guy. He tried to pay attention, but I was too awake, so I said, “OK. I’ve got to unwind,” and I took my laptop to the living room where I logged in* to Facebook:
A few of my friends responded, saying they’d be willing to have that conversation with me. So, I messaged them, and asked if they’d be willing to have that conversation, and have it recorded. They said yes! Because they are fabulous like that.
Last night, we got together in a Google+ Hangout and we recorded the conversation. If you haven’t seen the movie, I’ll warn you this conversation is full of spoilers. But, man! What a rich, rich conversation. I think we are all better because of it.
This conversation lasts just a bit longer than 50 minutes. We could have talked for hours. We had a few technological glitches that really just end up fading into the background. If you have time and the inclination, pull up a chair, and listen in to the wisdom and insight of these amazing women: Diana Trautwein, Kim Hyland, Kendra Tillman, and Colleen Jones. As is always the case, you are welcome to join the conversation in the comments.
