Yep. We’re still here. In the little 1950s ranch with only one real bathroom and a teeny tiny kitchen and a gigantic tree that drops acorns on the roof. (Actually, I think the squirrels throw the acorns at the roof.)
Yes. We still like it.
Strike that. We love it. Honestly.
Making the decision to downsize was a big deal for us. And it was right for us. For now.
I don’t know if it’s for everyone, but I think maybe there are a few things I learned along the way that might be worth sharing. Things that work. Things that don’t. Why we chose to trade our mortgage for a landlord. How to figure out what to get rid of, what to keep and what to kick to the curb. Literally.
Now brace yourself. In fact, let’s brace ourselves together. Because I’m going to write about this for the entire month of October. See? I even made myself a badge for the series: 31 Days to Smaller Living.
Call me crazy but first, read this next part.
If there’s one thing I realized after my blog disappeared and my domain went trotting off to live in someone else’s house, it’s that we are better together. We all do better when we’re connected to each other.
There’s something to this whole community thing. And this month, a few bloggers are writing about one thing for the next 31 days. Together. Writing about the topic of their choice. I know. It sounds intimidating. Or maybe it just sounds boring. Or pointless.
Well. There’s really only one way to find out.
If I’m honest about it, I have to admit I’ll probably write a few unintentionally boring or pointless posts along the way to the 31st day. But there may be some gems, too. You never know.
I’m going to stick to my Sunday posts, and the Lisa Leonard giveaway will happen exactly as promised. Except that I’ve extended it through Sunday. (I was able to find and print all 57 comments and I have them ready for the drawing on Monday.) It’s not too late to enter. Just go to the post about my visit to Savannah and leave a comment, and you’ll be counted, too. On Monday, I’ll announce a winner and everyone will get some Lisa Leonard gloriousness, whether you win the $75 gift card or not.
Oh. And one more thing. Thank you so much for finding me here. Your comments filled up my inbox yesterday and I couldn’t keep myself from crying. You mean the world to me. You do. And I hope you’ll stick around for the next 31 Days.
